Two men arrested in connection with the murder of British businessman Campbell Scott Alistar in Nairobi will remain in custody for another 21 days to allow police to conclude investigations.

Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina granted the police orders to detain the suspects, Albunus Mutinda Nzioki and Alex Mutua Kithuka at Capitol Hill and Kilimani police stations respectively.

This is after the two were arraigned in court under a miscellaneous application seeking custodial orders against Nzioki and Kithuka to conclude investigations into the murder.

Alister, a senior director at Fico, a data analytics company had visited Kenya on 15th February for a three-day conference before his disappearance .

The deceased was booked at J.W Marriott hotel in Westlands Nairobi and was last captured on CCTV leaving in the company of an unidentified African male adult with whom he boarded a taxi.

Investigations have revealed that the taxi dropped them off at Nzioki’s house in Pipeline Estate where the murder is believed to have taken place.

His body was later dumped ta Makongo forest along Machakos-Wote road where it was discovered by a herder days later.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that after the murder, several attempts to withdraw money from Alistar’s account in Nairobi, Voi and Mombasa.

The court heard the third main suspect in the murder is yet to be apprehended and releasing the two at this stage could jeopardize investigations.

It is also alleged that the first respondent has moved his belongings from the house in Pipeline Estate to an unknown location.

Therefore, the investigators are apprehensive that the two will interfere with investigations if released on bail at moment.

“Currently the respondents do not have a fixed place of abode making them a flight risk,” said the police

While granting the custodial orders, the magistrate ruled that the application was merited and directed the case will be mentioned on 24th March 2025.
