An American citizen has been charged in Nairobi with defrauding a businessman Sh 164 million in a fake gold sale deal.
Sergio Patrick Antonucci is accused of obtaining USD 1,271,200.74 (apprx Sh 164,188,192) from Tanner Caldwel Cook by falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate the sale of 2,820 Kgs of gold to him, a fact you knew to be false.
Antonucci is accused of committing the offense on diverse dates between 31st March and 30th May, 2024 in Nairobi City, jointly with others not before court
The accused is also charged with conspiring with others not before court defraud Cook the said money.
He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and was granted bond of Sh 10 million.
The court also ordered that deposits his passport in court as additional security pending the hearing and determination of the case.
