A Senior Accountant and Finance Manager at Vision NWDT Sacco and her partner have been charged over Sh 20 million theft.
Elizabeth Kemunto Ogata and Samuel Ayoti Obiero are facing charges of stealing by servant and handling stolen goods respectively.
Ogata is accused of stealing Sh 20,552,860.86 from the sacco, money that got into her possession by virtue of her employment.
She is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 27th July 2016 and 22nd September 2023 at Vision NWDT Sacco.
On the other hand, Obiero is accused of dishonestly receiving and disposing Sh 14,761,219.95 through his ABSA and Standard Chartered accounts for the benefit of Elizabeth Kemunto Ogata knowing or having reason to believe them to be stolen goods.
Obiero is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 29th July 2016 and 22nd September 2023 at Unknown Place within the Republic of Kenya.
The couple denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Robinson Ondieki.
They were released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000 each.
