A woman has been charged with stealing over Sh 2 million which was deposited into her bank account by mistake.
Vivian Stella Wanjiku is accused of stealing Sh 2,317,928 which was of erroneously deposited into her NCBA from an Equity bank account in the name of Elsie Gakii Gitonga, money which ought to have been delivered to an NCBA bank account in the name of Platinum Credit.
Wanjiku is alleged to have committed the offense on 30th October 2024 at unknown place within Kenya.
In addition, the accused person is facing an alternative charge of handling stolen goods after retaining the said money, knowingly or having reason to believe it to be stolen goods.
She denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Caroline Mugo and was released on bail.
