Zambian national charged over Sh 170 million gold fraud case

A Zambian national has been charged in Nairobi over Sh Sh170.8 million gold fraud.

Bupe Chipando is accused of obtaining Sh Sh170,816,734 from Bernhard Ten Brinke. He obtained the cash by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell 500 kilograms of gold.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 15th January 2021 Nairobi with another before court.

Chipando is also accused of conspiring to defraud Brinke the said money. He allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between 1st September and 21st January 2021 at unknown place in Nairobi County jointly with another before court.

He denied the gold fraud charges before Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and was He released on a bond of Sh1 million. He was given alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000.
