Case in which Nigerian was defrauded Sh 25M for fake gold set for 13th April

Two businessmen accused of obtaining Sh 25 million from a Nigerian national will appear in court again on 13th April 2022.

The accused persons Jonathan Okoth Opande and Steve Ochieng Odhiambo are accused of defrauding Samuel Olaleye Adeyeni by falsely pretending that they were in a position to sell him gold.

According to the charge sheet, the two committed the offence between 19th January and 18th February 2019 at Lagos Hotel in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.

The accused persons had pretended to be selling 250 kilograms of gold.

They denied the charges and were released in a Sh 300,000 cash bail.

Opande and Odhiambo had appeared before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi for directions.
