Suspected serial tender fraudster charged over fake ministry of interior tender

A woman allegedly involved in the Sh 37 million fake ministry of health tender has been charged with another similar offence at Ministry of interior.

Mercy Waihiga Wanjiku alias Linda Mugubi Mashaka is accused of obtaining Sh 1,625,410 from John Kiarie by pretending that ministry of Interior, National Police Service tender for supply and delivery of 200 anti-lock jam pins which she then issued to the said John Kiarie was a genuine and valid tender, awarded by the ministry to Tecxilla Merchants and group.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 22nd November 2019 and 19th March 2020 at National Police Service offices at Jogoo house A, with intent to defraud, jointly with others not before court.

Wanjiku is also charged that on 25th November 2019 at the National Police Service, Jogoo house A offices along Taifa road in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court she falsely presented herself to the persons employed in the public service in the ministry of Interior and assumed to receive three anti-lock jam pins samples from John Kiarie for the purported ministry of Interior tender for supply and delivery of 200 anti-lock Jam pins.

She denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate David Ndungi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.
