Another County Government employee charged with conspiracy to defraud County

A Nairobi county government employee has been charged with conspiracy to defraud the county over Sh 1 million.

John Ochong’a Manyoncho was accused of obtaining Sh 1, 064, 000 by false pretending he was in a position to assist Eastleigh Bar Owners Association obtain liquor license from the liquor licensing board of Nairobi County government.

He is alleged to have committed the offence on or about 8th March 2018 jointly with others not before court and others already before court.

Manyoncho also faced four other counts of obtaining different amounts of money amounting to over a million shillings from the said association.

He was further charged with forgery 21st March 2018, without lawful excuse, forged a liquor license for Ngatha Modern club purporting it to be genuine and valid.

The accused, who alleges that he has been receiving constant threats in relation to the matter, was charged with forging the licenses for Ocean Bar and restaurant, New SHI Bar and Restaurant and Down View Bar and restaurant.

Manyoncho denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was granted a bond of Sh 100,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 30,000.

The prosecution requested that the matter be consolidated with another already before court where two other people were charged with similar offenses.

The case will be heard on 3rd May 2018.
