Bank of Africa employee and another charged with stealing Sh 7M

A Bank of Africa employee and another have been charged with stealing over Sh 7 million from the lender.

Judy Wambui Maina, a Portfolio Quality Management officer at BOA and Winnie Njeri Gitau are accused of committing the offense diverse date between 6th December 2023 and 7 November 2024.

Maina is accused of stealing Sh 7,695,628 which got into her possession by virtue of her employment.

On the other hand, Gitau is facing a charge of stealing the said money from the bank.

Jointly, the two women are charged with conspiracy to defraud Bank of Africa the said money.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and were released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000.
