A businessman has been charged with obtaining goods worth Sh 17 million from Kanduyi Investment Limited by false pretenses.

Elius Kemboi Korir is accused of obtaining assorted shop goods from Kanduyi by pretending that he was in a position to pay for them.

It is alleged that the accused committed the offense on diverse dates between 11th August and 12th September 2022  in Nairobi, jointly with others not before court and with intent to defraud.

Korir is also facing a charge of stealing the said goods from Kanduyi Investment Ltd.

He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi.

The accused was granted a bond of Sh 2 million plus one surety of a similar amount.

Alternatively, he can also deposit a cash bail of Sh 500,000 and provide two contact persons, one of whom must be a person employed in the public service.
