A Nairobi businessman has been charged with obtaining Sh 2,500,000 by false pretenses that he could sell a car to the unsuspecting buyer.
Henry Mathembo Muindi is accused of obtaining the monies fraudulently from Julius Kanampiu by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell him a motor vehicle registration No. KCC 751J, a fact he knew to be false.
Muindi is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 24th June 2016 and 25th August 2017 in Nairobi.
He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and was granted a bond of Sh 500,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 300,000.
The case will be mentioned on 3rd November and will be heard on 28 November 2018.
