Canadian national charged over Sh 60 million land fraud in Nairobi

A Canadian national has been charged in a Nairobi court over Sh 60 million land fraud and forgery.

Sheppard Nelson Jason is accused of willfully and unlawfully procuring for himself the registration of land parcel No. Kid Olchoro-OnyoreY/6827 measuring 6.15 hectares, valued at Sh 60 million by falsely pretending that the said property was genuinely transferred to him, a fact he knew to be false.

Sheppard is alleged to have committed the offence on 4th June 2012, at Ngong’ lands registry within Kajiado County,  jointly with another not before court.

In another count, Jason is accused that on or before, 5th June 2012, at an unknown place in Kenya, jointly with others not before court, conspired to defraud Jeremiah Muuya Sailoji and Rhonda Ann Baxter of their parcel of land by falsely claiming that the same had been transferred to him by Sailoji and Baxter, a fact he knew to be false.

Jason is also accused that on or before 4th June 2012, at Ngong Land Registry, Kajiado County within Kenya, jointly with another not before court and with intent to defraud Sailoji and Baxter their land forged the transfer of the land form to Rufus Karima Kalama, the then Land Registrar, Ngong.

The Canadian denied the charges before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina. 

He was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000 pending the determination of the case.
