Five charged in connection with attempted break-in into Major General George Okumu’s home

Five people, among them two Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officers linked to the attempted break-in into the home of KDF Major General George Okumu have been charged.

Charles Kiio Matata (KDF), David Ng’aa Mwangangi (KDF officer on suspension), Alex Mumo Kisilu, Richard Mwania Muasya and Stella Nzuki Mweni have been charged with conspiracy and preparation to commit a felony.

According to the charge sheet, the accused persons conspired to commit break in into the house of George Okumu Opondo at Acacia Paradise Estate in Kitengela town between 18th and 25th March 2026.

On the preparation to commit a felony charge, the five were jointly found armed with dangerous weapons namely a claw bar, a claw hammer, one USA Suber knife, and a pliers in circumstances that they were so armed with intent to commit a felony namely house breaking.

All accused persons denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Theresa Nyangena.

They were granted a bond of Sh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 500,000 each. The case will be mentioned on 21st April 2026.

According to the prosecution, the Military police sought to take Matata to the KDF Headquarters to face charges.
