A former advocate has been charged with acting as an advocate at Thika Law Courts without qualification.

Robert Mongare Nyakundi is accused of appearing in court and representing a suspect in Small claims Case No. SCCCOMM/E1257/2023 before Resident Magistrate S.A. Woyodi.

Nyakundi is alleged to have committed the offense on 10th August 2023 at Thika law court in Kiambu County.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben-Mark Ekhubi.

The court heard that Nyakundi has been a qualified advocate for more than 20 years and has a judicial review case at Nyeri Law Courts challenging his dismissal from the bar.

He added that he is hoping to settle the matter with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK).

The accused was granted a bond of Sh 200,000 with alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000 with one contact person.
