Four fake gold dealers charged after conning a doctor millions

Four men have been charged with obtaining over 29 million shillings from a doctor by pretending they could sell him Gold.

Arthur Caleb Otieno Agutu, George Kinuthia Mbugua, Eric Otieno Odinya and Antony Ochieng Ngeso are accused jointly with others not before court with obtaining from Dr Ali Raza a sum of Sh 29,956,000 purporting that they were in a genuine position to sell to him 11.9 kilograms of pure gold, a fact they knew to be false.

The four are alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between March 2018 and December 2020 at Land mark Suites in Westlands, Nairobi, with intent to defraud.

They denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Charles Mwaniki.
They were granted a bond of Sh 15 million and one surety a similar amount.
