An elderly man purporting to be the director of Langton Investment Limited has been charged with over Sh 1.6 billion Northern Bypass land fraud.
Francis Muhuhu Ndinguri is accused of conspiring to defraud parcel of Land known as Land Reference No. 28401 IR NO.152720 measuring approximately 21.85 hectares.
The property, the which is owned by Messer’s Langton Inv. Ltd is situated along the Northern bypass road and is valued at approximately Sh. 1,619,700,000.
Muhuhu, who hails from Limuru, is accused of committing the offense on diverse dates between the 4th January and 15th September 2023 in Nairobi County, jointly with others not before.
The accused is also facing a charge of forging a Certificate of Registration (CR12) purporting it to be a Certificate of Registration of Messer’s Langton Investments Limited.
Muhuhu is alleged to have committed this offense on or before the 24th February 2023 at unknown place within the Republic of Kenya, with Intent to defraud.
In addition,Muhuhu is charged with obtaining the registration of the said land by false pretenses
The court heard that the accused willfully procured for himself registration of a Provisional Certificate of title for the said land by falsely pretending that he was the Director of Langton Investment Company, registration certificate No.C78508, a fact he knew to be false or untrue.
It is alleged that Muhuhu committed the offense on diverse dates between the 4th January and 15th September 2023 at the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development, State Department for Lands Physical Planning, within Nairobi City County.
He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Martha Nanzushi.
The accused was granted a bond of Sh 5 million and surety of a similar amount.
Alternatively, he can deposit a cash bail of Sh one million and provide two contact persons.
The case will be mentioned on 10 September 2024 for direction.
