Man charged over Sh 230M land fraud

A man has been charged with forging a letter of allotment for a Sh 230 million.

Peter Wanjema Mwangi is accused of forging the said document purporting it to be a genuine and valid letter of allotment issued by Nairobi City County to Bahati Development Welfare Association, a fact he knew to be false.

Mwangi is alleged to have committed the offense on or before 16th June 2010 in Nairobi, jointly with others already before court, with intent to defraud.

In addition, the accused is charged with conspiring with others to defraud John Irungu Huma the said land.

He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and was granted a bond of Sh 1 million with alternative cash bail of Sh 600,000.
