A Nairobi woman has been charged with stealing railway bars and accessories worth over Sh 6 million.
Caroline Marias is accused of stealing stole five check rails 80R, eight rail steel 80 pound (80R), two crossing bars 80R and four switches all valued at Sh 6,010,000 the property of Kenya Railways Corporation.
The accused person is alleged to have committed the offense on 28th October, 2025 at Morindet Railway Station in Naivasha, Nakuru County, jointly with another before court.
Marias has alternative count of handling stolen goods. The court heard that she handled the above goods in her Isuzu lorry knowing or having reason to believe it to be a stolen property.
It is alleged that she committed the offense on 28th October, 2025 at area 47 along Waiyaki Way, in Dagorreti, jointly with another before court and others not before court.
Lastly, Marias is accused of unlawfully damaging rails thereby endangering the lives of the general public.
She denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Theresia Nyangena and was released on a cash bail of Sh 50,000.
The case will be mentioned on 17th March 2026
