Three directors of Tareef Enterprises Limited have been released on bail after denying several fraud charges.
Ali Sheikh Hassan, Ahmed Mohamed Karshe and Abdulaziz Mohamed Karshe are accused of obtaining from John Mwaniki Kiarie, the director Tradenets Construction Works cement, bitumen and paraffin valued at Sh 7.8 million by falsely pretending that they were in a position to pay for the said goods, a fact they knew to be false.
The trio is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 1st January 2019 and 31 December 2020 within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with another not before court, with intent to defraud.
The directors are also charged with fraudulently obtaining Sh 4,335,000 from Kiarie falsely pretending that they were in a position to construct a road in Maua, Meru County, fact they knew to be false.
It is alleged that the money was obtained on 25th July 2023, within Kenya.
In addition, the directors are also facing nine counts of issuing bad cheques to Kiarie.
They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben-Mark Ekhubi and were released on a cash bail of Sh 500,000.
