Two charged with stealing Sh 55M from Afya Sacco Society Limited

Two men have been charged with stealing over Sh 55 million from Afya Sacco Society Limited.

Felix Mutisya Ndoi and Silas Sila Mutaki are accused of stealing Sh 55,649,000 from the Sacco jointly with another not before court.

The duo is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 8th December 2016 and 1st November 2021 at Afya Sacco Society Ltd offices, in Nairobi County.

Ndoi is also facing a charge of procuring execution of a document by false pretenses.

According to the charge sheet, on 7th July 2020 at Mwanzia & Company Advocates, in Nairobi County, Ndoi, with another not before court, by means of false and fraudulent representation as to the content of an agency agreement document witnessed by a commissioner of oaths, procured James Mutyota Masika to execute the said document.

In addition, the two are accused of conspiring with others to steal the said money.

They denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi and was granted a bond of Sh 3 million with one surety of a similar amount.

Alternatively, the accused persons can deposit a cash bail of Sh 1 million and provide two contact persons to secure their release pending the hearing and determination of the case.

The matter will be mentioned on 30th December 2024 for pre-trial.
