Member of Parliament for Wajir East Rashid Kasim Amin is a free man after the court acquitted him of assault charges filed by his counterpart Woman rep Fatuma Gedi.
This is after Gedi withdrew the case which was before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Nanzushi on grounds that they had settled the matter out of court.
Kassim was charged in 2019 after allegedly assaulting the Wajir women rep at Parliament Building.
While addressing Journalists outside Milimani law courts, Gedi said that the withdrawal of the case against the MP is a result of a handshake and commended President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga for paving the path of handshakes.
