An aspiring politician who appeared at a local vernacular TV station for an interview donning a police uniform has been charged.
Monica Wamaitha Gitau is accused that on 29th June at a local TV station premises within Kilimani in Nairobi, she was found wearing uniform resembling the new medium blue uniform of the Kenya Police Service without written authority of the Inspector General of Police.
The accused who is contesting for the Nairobi Women Rep seat denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi.
Gitau had made an appearance at Inooro TV wearing what looked like a police uniform. Police officers raided the TV studio and arrested her.
After her arrest, she claimed that she was a former police officer.
She was released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000. After her release, she joined some of her supporters cheering outside Milimani Law Courts.
