Woman charged after failing to pay for Sh 14M goods

A businesswoman has been charged with obtaining Sh 14.5 million worth of goods by false pretenses.

Halima Samson Mwongera alias Halima Saado is charged with conspiracy to defraud and obtaining the said goods from Brisad International Limited.

The goods includes 200 bags of 50kgs sugar, 700 Jerrican’s of 20 litres of cooking oil, 500 Jerrican’s of 10 litres of cooking oil, 1000 bags of 50kgs of Biriani rice all valued Sh 14,546,400.

Mwongera is alleged to have committed the offense on 14th February 2024 at Women and Youth Against Aids and poverty godown at Industrial Area in Nairobi.

The accused is also facing a charge of obtaining more goods worth Sh 1.2 million from Brisad International.

They include, 50 Jerricans of 10 litres cooking oil, 100 bags of 25 kgs Biriani rice and 50 cartons of Menengai bar soaps all valued at Sh 1,293,400.

Lastly Mwongera is accused of conspiring with others not before court to steal goods worth Sh 11.8 million from Trio Safelink Services Limited on 13th February this year.

She denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Ben-Mark Ekhubi and was granted a Sh 500,000 bail.
