Woman charged with conspiring with a Kamiti inmate to steal Sh 7M

A Homabay woman has been charged with conspiring with a convict at Kamiti Maximum Prison to commit a Sh 7 million defraud.

Pamela Akinyi Wara is accused of conspiring with Hesbon Onyango Nyamweha  who is currently serving a sentence at Kamiti Prison to steal to Sh 7,656,500 the property of Purity Karambu Laird.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offense between 1st May and 17th September 2020, jointly with others not before court.

Wara is also charged with stealing the money on the said dates.

In addition, the accused is charged with handling stole property. The court heard that Wara, otherwise than in course of stealing, dishonestly undertook the retention of the said money, knowing or having reason to believe it to have been acquired through theft.

She denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi.

Wara was granted a bond of Sh 2 million with one surety of a similar amount.
