Woman charged with threatening to kill HR, GDC Nakuru

A former employee of Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has been charged with threatening to kill a Human Resource Manager by sending her threatening Whatsapp messages.

Hellen Nyambura Njoki is accused of threatening to kill Miriam Athmani Yunus on 13th April 2024 at around 2136 hours.

Njoki allegedly wrote a WhatsApp message to Yunus sayi…..”I told the DCI coz they have these documents with them, we will take law at hand the way they do in their organization hata Sisi tuonekane kwa news. You see the killings going on in Kenya police amongst them? Hata GDC we should be part of that tuonekane kwa news. Do this mwanamke, come to Nakuru GDC Polo Centre, employees will notify me wakati uko tushikane, you will kill me or I will kill you, mambo ni mawili. We will take law at hand then polisi wakuje badaye, thus how we roll in Nakuru.” Threatening to kill her.

In another count, Njoki is charged with the offense of cyber harassment.

The court heard that she sent the complainant another message saying,……..”GDC employees will inform me when you will be at Polo centre nikutafute we do what women do. Hakuna k*ma uko nayo kuliko wanawake wengine n to be precise Wetangula will produce that Richard Ochieng. If at all we ever shared a d**k together, we will iron out that. GDC isn’t your mother’s business.” Knowing the words to be grossly offensive and to be maliciously injure the said Miriam Athman Yunus’ reputation as a person…”

Njoki is also charged with another count of cyber harassment after sending another message saying……”Mariam umeona watu hio GDC ni watoto wako, hakuna kuma ulio nayo kuliko wanawake wengine, if we ever shared a d**k, tujue tushikane kama wengine. Come to Polo Centre!! Knowing the word to be grossly offensive and to maliciously injure Yunus’ reputation as a person.

On 14th April 2024, the accused allegedly sent more messages harassing the complainant.

She is said to have texted again on Whatsapp saying……”I was surprised to hear wewe ni kishosho you are about to retire, text me while at Polo kama wewe ni mwanamke na uko na Kuma kama wengine….”

Njoki went on to call the complainant….”Kishosho kijinga” and “Mchawi wa Mombasa” Knowing the words to be grossly offensive and to maliciously injure her.

She appeared before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe but did not plead to the charges.

The court put it on record that the only thing she said was that her lawyer had not arrived.

Njoki was granted a bond of Sh 500,000 with one surety of a similar amount.

Alternatively, she can deposit a cash bail of Sh 300,000.
