Interconsult Engineers ltd director, six others charged with fraud

Interconsult Engineers Limited, its director Kariuki Muchemi and five others have been charged afresh with fraud.

The two are charged alongside Conapex Consulting Engineering Limited director Wilson Munyu Karaba, SK Archplans director Stanley Kibathi, Head of legal compliance MIH East Africa Lavender Lucky Waindi and the three engineering companies.

The seven are accused of conspiring with intent to defraud Cementers Kenya Limited, intentionally altering a structural Integrity investigation report.

The report was on proposed construction of an office block for Multichoice Kenya on plot number LR.NO.3734/421 dated February 2017.

Further, the court heard that the report was altered to favor the structural engineer, Conapex consulting Engineering ltd against Cementers Kenya ltd and to demand damages of Sh 895,000,000 from them.

Interconsult engineers boss who appeared in court for the first time was also charged with making the false report.

Muchemi is alleged to have committed the offence in February 2017 at an unknown place with intent to deceive.

In addition, the accused was charged with uttering the false report to Cementers Kenya Ltd purporting it to be a genuine and valid report.

Waindi was charged with inciting Muchemi to extract part of the said report that was to be presented to Cementers.

The accused persons denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Esther Kimilu.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh 500,000 each.
