The president of Bunge la Mwananchi, Githurai, has been charged with being possession of fake US dollars.

David Muthii Wanjohi is accused being in possession of five forged currency notes of one hundred denominations without serial numbers knowing them to be forged.

Wanjohi is alleged to have committed the offense on 25th April 2026 at Kahawa Sukari in Nairobi.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and was granted a bond of Sh 300,000 plus one surety of a similar amount.

Alternatively, he can deposit a cash bail of Sh 150,000 and one contact person.

The case will be mentioned on 11th May 2026 for pre-trial.
