Kibra Member of Parliament Peter Orero’s driver who was recorded by journalist Larry Madowo overtaking recklessly has been fined Sh 100,000 for the offense.
George Oduor was arraigned in court and charged with dangerously overtaking along Oloitoktok Road in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on 9th September 2025.
Failure to pay the imposed fine, the accused person will have to serve one year in jail.
Oduor was caught on camera by journalist Larry Madowo who declined to give way to the overlapping MP leading the driver and his boss to insult him.
The driver pleaded guilty to the offense before Principal Magistrate Rose Ndobi and asked the court for leniency.
Oduor apologized for his behaviour claiming he was remorseful.
He admitted his mistake saying he only did so because he was rushing to the airport.
He told the court he has never done such a thing before and vowed never to repeat the same.
However, the prosecutor told the court that he had the pleasure of watching the viral video and it was clear the driver was not remorseful.
The court further heard that the said overtaking was intentional urging the court to punish him in accordance to what is provided in the constitution.
