A man has been fined Sh 30,000 after failing to pay a bill of Sh 22,760 to Vibanda Village.
Qurine Omondi Muteshi was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and charged with obtaining credit by false pretenses.
According to the charge sheet, Muteshi incurred the said debt after eating and consuming alcoholic drinks and water, pretending he was in a position to pay for them
The father of four is alleged to have committed the offense on 3rd October 2025 at Vibanda Village in Upperhill, Nairobi, jointly with others not before court.
Muteshi pleaded guilty to the charges against him and apologize to the court.
While mitigating, the man claimed that he was making merry while “surrounded by a bunch of ladies” knowing he could pay the bill.
However, after all was dome and it was time to pay, the accused person said he realized he did not have money and even worse, he had unknowingly accumulated some mobile loans.
Apologizing once again, Muteshi told the court that he had not lived in Nairobi for long and was just now getting to learn about it.
The court heard that the accused person has been in living in Nairobi for about four years.
He was allegedly arrested while trying to board a matatu outside the establishment.
