Advocate charged with Sh 7 million land fraud

An advocate of the High Court has been charged with Sh 7 million land fraud.

Esau Oywaya Akombo is accused of obtaining Sh 7.3 million from Benedict Miriti and James Mwangi by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell a genuine land parcel No. Ruiru/Ruiru Block 2/375, a fact he knew to be false.

Akombo is alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 13th July and 11th October 2022 at Nairobi jointly with another before court, with intent to defraud.

The advocate is further accused of conspiring to defraud Miriti and Mwangi the said money.

He denied the charges before Milimani Chief Magistrate Court and was released on a cash bail of Sh 150,000.
