The Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji has withdrawn the murder case against Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa.

The DPP told Mombasa Law Courts that there was no sufficient evidence against Jumwa.

The court also heard that CS Jumwa is now going to be a state witness in case since she was present when the incident occurred.

Through her lawyers Danstan Omari and Shadrack Wambui, Jumwa requested the DPP to review the case against her because there was no sufficient evidence to prosecute her.

According to Omari, the DPP has made a good decision since the CS does not own a firearm which she could have used to commit the crime.

In their letter, Jumwa’s lawyers had informed the DPP that there was also no ballistic evidence implicating their client.

The lawyers told the DPP to review Jumwa’s file and apply for withdrawal just like he had done with DP Rigathi Gachagua’s case.

Jumwa was charged alongside her bodyguard Geoffrey Okuto with the murder of one Ngumbao Jola in Kilifi in 2019.

The victim was shot during the Ganda ward by-election.
