Four of Governor Mike Sonko’s people who had accompanied him to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission yesterday have been charged with resisting arrest and creating disturbance.
John Abok, Joseph Mwangi Kirai, Kennedy Odhiambo and Richard Bosire are accused of willfully and unlawfully resisting arrest by five police officers while in execution of their duty.
The four are also charged with taking part in illegal assembly and creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by shouting at the police officer saying “you fools shoot us”.
The accused who were accompanied to court by the Governor are alleged to have committed the offence on 5th November 2019 at the EACC Integrity centre at about 1100 hrs.
They denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrates Kenneth Cheruiyot and were released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000 each.
The case will be heard on 4th December.
