Lawyer to be charged with obtaining money falsely and forgery

A city lawyer is expected to plead to charges of obtaining Sh 25 million by false pretenses among other counts on 18th February.

Kenneth Habel Mwaniki Gachomoh is accused of obtaining from John Macharia Mwangi Sh 25M by pretending that a certain certificate of title for the sale of a parcel of land in Runda, was genuine, signed by Elizabeth Gicheha, registrar of title.

 

Gachomoh is alleged to have committed the offence between 1st January 2016 and 3rd of February 2018 in Nairobi jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud.

 

The accused is also accused of forging the certificate of title for the said land which measures 0.647 acres valued at Sh 35 million with intent to defraud James Mwangi Wagura his land.

 

The lawyer is also charged with conspiracy to defraud Wagura and Mwangi by purporting that the certificate of title for the said land is genuine.

 

He, however, did not plead to the charges since he did not appear in court for plea taking on Thursday.
His lawyer requested the plea to differed until Monday 18th on grounds that his clients was unwell.
