Makongeni member of county assembly has been charged with being in possession of a firearm and ammunition without a certificate.

Peter Anyule Imwatok was charged being in possession of a CESKA pistol on 10th September 2017 at Galitos Restaurant at the junction of Lusaka and enterprise road in Industrial Area, Nairobi.

The MCA was also charged with being unlawfully in possession of 13 rounds of 9mm caliber ammunition without a firearm certificate.

Imwatok, through his lawyer, told the court to release g=him on bond adding that he is indeed a certified firearm holder though his license had expired a few months ago.

The accused pleaded not guilty before Nairobi Milimani court Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The gun is alleged to have been left unattended at the men’s washroom on a sink at the restaurant. The weapon was found by a cleaner who reported the matter to the management and it was letter taken to the police. It is then that the MCA later went to claim that it was his weapon.
