A businessman has been charged with obtaining Sh 11 million from different tourists pretending that he could offer them tour and accommodation services.
Otieno Lysaniash Onjwayo is facing 18 counts of offences before a Nairobi court.
The victims include Chinese nationals, Koreans, French, Japanese among others.
The amounts obtained range between USD 1000 and 10,000.
Onjwayo denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.
His lawyer requested the court to grant his client lenient bail terms saying that most of the money has already been reimbursed.
The court that Sh 10 million out of the 11 million obtained had already been paid, evidence confirmed by Kenya Commercial Bank.
While making his ruling on bail, the magistrate said he had taken into account the issued raised and granted the accused a cash bail of Sh 300,000.
The case will be mentioned on 9th September and will be heard on 25th September this year.
