Man charged with stealing 8M from Equity Bank

A man has been charged with stealing over Sh 8 million shillings from Equity Bank Limited.

Mwaura Stephen Luseko is accused of stealing Sh 8,689,892.50 between 29th August and 13th September 2016 at the bank’s Kenpipe Industrial Area branch jointly with others not before court.

Luseko was also charged with conspiring to commit a felony namely theft of the above monies.

The accused further faced two counts of handling stolen property. He is alleged to have dishonestly received Sh 250,000 twice in his name knowing or having reasons to be believe it to be stolen or unlawfully obtained.

Luseko denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku. He was granted a bond of Sh 1 million or a cash bail of Sh 500,000.

The case will be mentioned on 5th and will be heard on 11th February.
