MP Ogili alias Babu Owino released on Sh.200,000 bail

Embakasi East MP Paul Ogili alias Babu Owino has been released on a cash bail of Sh. 200,000 or a bond of Sh 500, 000.

This after Babu was again  arraigned in court today and charged with with two counts of offenses among them causing grievous harm and using force during elections.

Babu was charged with causing grievous harm to a voter Joshua Otieno Obiende at Soweto hall in Kayole during the August general elections.

In the second count the MP was charged with inflicting physical injuries  directly and unlawfully to the said voter in order to refrain him from voting.
Babu denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Joyce Gandani.
The prosecution objected to his release on bond but the magistrate granted him bond  saying that the prosecution did not give compelling reasons to deny him bond.
However, magistrate Gandani warned the legislator that if he commits another offense, his bond will be cancelled.
Babu was rearrested yesterday evening after being released on bond by milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.
He had been detained for one day to allow the magistrate to write the ruling of granting him bond.
The MP had on Tuesday been charged with two counts of offences including Subversion and offensive conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
