Nairobi car dealer charged with defrauding clients

A car dealer has been charged in Nairobi with defrauding two clients over Sh 6 million.

Onesmus Mboya alias Awiti Josphat is accused of obtaining Sh 5,448,749 from Muthomi Maitima Nchurai between 9th September and 23rd October 2021 in Nairobi jointly with others not before court by pretending he was in a position to sell a motor vehicle which was being auctioned by Kenya Revenue Authority at Mombasa yard.

The accused is also charged with obtaining Sh1, 530,000 from one Nyerere Nyamai by falsely pretending he was in a position to acquire on his behalf a motor vehicle, being auctioned by KRA at its customs yard in Mombasa.

Mboya denied the charges before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Susan Shitubi who granted him a bond of Sh 500,000 with alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000.
