Namad Insurance Agency officer charged with stealing members’ premiums

Namad Insurance Agency principal officer has been charged with stealing stealing Sh 460,000 medical premiums deposited by two of their members.

David Onyango Odwaro is accused of stealing Sh 151,575 being deposits made in the account of Namad Insurance Agency as medical premiums for a placement of a medical insurance policy paid by Mohamed Tajdin Chatur to be insured by UAP Old Mutual Insurance Company Limited.

The accused is also charged with stealing Sh 285,058, deposits made in the account of Namad Insurance Agency being Medical premiums for a placement of a medical insurance policy paid by Dr. Alfie Ahmed Warshow to be insured by UAP Old Mutual Insurance Company Limited.

Odwaro is alleged to have committed the offenses on diverse dates between 27th July and 28th September 2023 at Cooperative Bank, Upper Hill Branch in Nairobi County.

He denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi and was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.
