Phone dealer charged after failing to pay for phones worth Sh 1.2 million

A man has been charged in a Nairobi court after failing to pay for phones worth Sh 1.2 million.

Nelson Ogega Matoke is accused of obtaining six mobile phones; two Samsung Z fold 3, two iphone 13 promax and two Samsung Z fold 4 512gb all valued at Sh 1.2 million from Alex Ndungu Gakimo by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay for them.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 15th September and 21st October 2022 in Nairobi, with intent to defraud.

Matoke is further charged with making a title deed for a land in Kajiado without lawful authority or excuse, with intent to defraud.

In addition, the accused is charged with uttering the alleged falseĀ  title deed.

Matoke is alleged to have committed the offences on unknown dates jointly with others not before court.

He denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and was granted a bond of Sh 400,000.
