Court has allowed police to detain a man suspected to be involved in the murder of a radio journalist in Kibra for 14 days to complete investigations.
Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe allowed the application by detective Pascal Mwachiro attached at Kilimani DCI’s office to detain Luqman Mohammed Ibrahim.
The victim, 62 was working with Pamoja FM located in Olympics in Kibra as a presenter when he was attacked by a gang of seven on his way from work.
The suspect was arrested on Monday at Makina Kibera within Kilimani area following a report of robbery with violence in Makina.
“According to investigations, the suspect was among the group that orchestrated the violence which resulted to the death of the deceased,” the officer said.
He added that preliminary investigations have undoubtedly established that the deceased was confronted by a group of about seven people who were armed with crude weapons.
It is alleged that the incident angered members of the public who launched a manhunt for the killers leading to the lynching of one suspect.
The public accuses police of laxity during this curfew period.
The magistrate directed the case to be mention on 19th May 2020.
