A visually impaired private investigator has been charged with obtaining money by false pretences from his client.

53 year old James Mutua Nzuni was charged with obtaining Sh 945,000 from Ashut Engineers Limited by pretending that he could pursue on their behalf, their debt cases in court, a fact he knew to be false.

Nzuni is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between June and August 2017 in Nairobi.

The accused however denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

The PI was released on a bond of Sh 300,000 or alternative cash bail of Sh 200,000.

The Magistrate gave Nzuni an opportunity to say something about his set bond terms and responded “I have nothing much to say your honor except that a blind man can not obtain..”

The court directed that the accused be provided with appropriate accommodation while in prison due to his condition.

The prosecution was also directed to supply witnesses statements to Nzuni in a form that he can read.

The case will be heard on 2nd July 2018.
