Rwandese businesswoman charged in Nairobi over ‘fake’ gold

A Rwandese businesswoman has been charged in Nairobi with obtaining millions of shillings by pretending to be a gold dealer.

Fatima Muhamed Kalima is accused of obtaining Sh 3,851,200 from businessman Tazehnam Mousa Eissa by falsely pretending she was in a position to sell to him 1.5kgs of gold, a fact she knew to be false.

Kalima is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 28th October and 14th November 2018 in Kilimani Area within Nairobi County jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud.

The Rwandese denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on a half a million shillings bond.
