Taiwanese charged in Nairobi over Sh 5M casino investment fraud

A Taiwanese national has bee charged with obtaining Sh 5 million from a businessman for a casino business.

Ku Ming Hung is accused of obtaining the money from Shao Da Lin Qiang by false pretending that he was in a position to incorporate him into a casino business in Nairobi, a fact he knew to be false.

Hung is alleged to have committed the offense on 8th August in Nairobi Central Business District, with intent to defraud.

He denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe.

The accused was granted a bond of Sh 1 million plus one surety of a similar amount.

In addition, he was given the alternative to deposit a cash of Sh 300,000 and provide two Kenyan contacts.

The magistrate also ordered Hung to deposit his passport in court as additional security.

The matter will be mentioned 27th May 2024 for pre-trial.
