Two Garissa County residents have sued the National Land Commission over the Ishaqbini Hirola Community conservation land.

Abdullahi Ali Abdi and Abdikadir Ibrahim Shurie argue that NLC together with Garissa County government and Kenya Wildlife Service conspired to deprive them and the residents of Ijara Sub County their rights over community land. Ishaqbini Hirola Community is  a community-based conservation  located in Garissa County.

Through lawyer George Kithi the two argue that the respondents have not compensated the community for the annexation of land for the establishment of the Hirola Community Sanctuary in Hara, Korosa and Kotile location .

The petitioners now want the court to stop the respondents from interfering with the land meant for the community for the expansion of the Ishaqbini Hirola Conservancy until the case is heard and determined.

The two also claim  that they face a threat of being displaced by the continued encroachment and illegal appropriation of public land by the Northern Rangeland Trust.
