US Tech Consultant withdraws charges against Canadian citizen in Sh 46M fraud case

A US Tech Consultant has withdrawn charges against a Canadian citizen who had allegedly defrauded him Sh 46 million in Nairobi, Kenya.

Casey Drew Cian told Senior Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego that he wanted to withdraw the case after talks with Knight and his family.

“At this juncture, I have decided to withdraw the case after having discussions with the family as they put in a plea and taking time to look through where I am in life and I’d actually like to do going forward, it’s in my best interest to withdraw the case,”  Cian said.

Knight had been charged with obtaining USD 357,300 from Casey Drew Cian by falsely pretending that he was in a position to invest his money for profit in projects namely World Food Programme and Sunshine Minerals Limited, a fact he knew to be false.

The Canadian citizen was alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 27th September and 26th October 2024 within the Republic of Kenya, jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud.

In addition, the accused person faces several other charges of forging documents.
