A woman alleged to be a girlfriend to a former politician has been arraigned in court for drunk driving.
Sharon Oparanya was arrested on Thursday morning at around 0735 hrs along Ngong Road where she was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
Oparanya was to be charged with driving on a public road while under the influence of alcohol to an extent of being incapable of having proper control of the vehicle.
However, the accused who was allegedly falling asleep in court to an extent of snoring did not plead to the charges after claiming that the name Sharon Oparanya was not her real name.
The accused appered before Principal Magistrate Martha Nanzushi where she also failed to produce her national identity card for the chargesheet to be corrected.
She was released on a cash bail of Sh 20,000 and directed to appear in court on 23rd September for plea taking.
