A case in which a woman had sued former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko for Child support has been withdrawn.
This is after the woman swore an affidavit seeking to withdraw the case.
The plaintiff told Chief Magistrate P. Ochieng that she was paid to tarnish Sonko’s name.
In her affidavit, the woman swears that she was approached by two ladies from Mombasa County namely Zuhura and Latifa who promised her Sh 1 million to trash Sonko’s name.
“I confirm having been paid Sh 240,000 in cash by the said two ladies,” the plaintiff told the court.
The woman wanted the court to order Sonko to pay Sh 448,450 monthly upkeep for their alleged 15 year old daughter who is in form two.
According to the woman, she has since searched her soul on the matter, considered the suit against the defendant and now wished to withdraw both the chamber summons application and suit both dated 12th May 2022 and further extended her unreserved apologies to Sonko.
“I pray that the matter be marked withdrawn with no orders as to cost,” the woman added.
In her application, the woman claimed Sonko had refused to take his parental responsibility and wanted the court to intervene.
The defendant has refused and or neglected to provide for the minor with adequate and or basic necessities such as education, good health food, clothing, shelter, entertainment and medication,” the court heard.
She wanted Sonko compelled to contribute Sh 50,000 for food and shopping, Sh 45,000 for rent, Sh 30,000 for security, Sh 20,000 for clothing, Sh 20,000 for house help, Sh 20,000 medical cover, Sh 4000 minor’s salon expenses, Sh 5000 for DStv, Sh 50,000 for minors school debit card, Sh5000 for gas among others.
The woman also claimed that Sonko’s refusal to attend to the child’s needs, yet he is a person of means, has caused the minor emotional stress and ridicule among her peers.
