Baitul investment Director to be charged over 152M tax default

A business man will be presented before a Nairobi court and charged with deliberately failing to pay sh152M Tax.

Mohamed Hussein Ali alongside his company Baitul Investment are accused of deliberately defaulting in the obligation to remit value added tax amounting to sh152,395,692 to the commissioner domestic taxes for the year 2016.

Ali is alleged to have committed the offence on diverse dates between 20th January and 20th December 2016 within the republic of Kenya jointly with another not before court.

Further the businessman will be charged that on 30th November 2017 deliberately failed to pay corporation tax amounting to sh285,741,923 to the commissioner domestic taxes for the year of income 2017.

He is also accused of knowingly making an incorrect statement in VAT returns for the months January to December 2016 thereby affecting payment of sh152M VAT.
