A driver of a BMW captured on video assaulting a traffic police officer on duty has been charged.
Martin Waitima has been charged with assaulting officer Mark Kirimi Muriara. In addition, Waitima is facing charges of resisting arrest.
The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 17th March 2022 along Uhuru highway in Nairobi.
Waitima denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000.
After pleading to the charges, the BMW driver requested the court to allow him to settle the matter out of court.
The magistrate allowed him to try Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). If it fails, the case proceeds to trial.
